FUN-LOVING families made the most of the soaring temperatures on a baking bank holiday.
The sun finally put its hat on in time for residents to enjoy a long weekend and take part in an activity-packed day at the seaside yesterday.
Hundreds of sun-seekers headed to Seaton Carew to enjoy the warm weather.
Face-painted children were in their element with lots of rides at the fun-fair which stopped off in the town and took the opportunity to enjoy ice creams and ice lollies.
Shops along the seafront did a roaring trade, with queues at all of the fish and chip shops throughout the day.
Families took their dogs out for a run on the front while kids played on the beach in temperatures which nudged close to 70F.
And those temperatures were set to rise yet again today above 70F, to finish the long weekend in style.
Even those who were back at work today will still be able to enjoy the sun as experts say it won’t start to cool off until around 8pm tonight.
And it won’t be far off reaching those soaring temperatures again tomorrow as May continues its bright start.
But unfortunately the black clouds will gather above the town on Wednesday and Thursday with showers predicted throughout both days.
