Your chance to be a football coach

SPORT enthusiasts are being invited to enrol for a course on coaching budding footballers.

Aimed at both males and females over the age of 16, all candidates need is a keen interest in the sport and a desire to develop the skills of young people.

Successful applicants will take part in nine three-hour evening sessions between September 14 and October 12.

Participants will learn how to safely organise and supervise a range of football activities, understand the different aspects of coaching children and promote and establish working relationships and high standards between players, coaches, parents and officials.

Candidates will also attend two workshops, FA Emergency Aid and FA Safeguarding Children, and receive a certificate for both upon completition.

The Football Development Level 1 course is being organised by the Hartlepool Borough Coucil’s sport and recreation service in partnership with Durham FA.

Assistant development recreation officer Daniel Garthwaite said: “The course is aimed at people who have regular practical experience of playing football, and are now looking for an introduction to coaching.”
