A BARN filled with 150 tonnes of hay and straw is a blaze.
Firefighters were called to Wingate Grange Farm, off the A181 in Wingate, at 2.45am today after the fire was discovered.
Crews from Peterlee, Seaham, Wheatley Hill and Durham remain at the scene as the burning is controlled and efforts are made to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.
An environmental protection unit, based in Durham, is also helping in the effort.
Teams are expected to stay at the farm for the day as the fire is allowed to burn out.
