POLICE have now reopened both lanes of a flood-hit dual carriageway.
The A19 north and southbound carriageways from Billingham to Norton were reduced to just one lane for most of the day.
But police have confirmed that both lanes of the road reopened north and south at around 1.30pm today.
The Norton and Billingham slip-roads, however, are still shut.
The water-logged section of the A689, near Wynyard, eased throughout this afternoon with traffic flowing much more freely.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police warned that rush-hour may see traffic build up once more.
The A19 and A689 became chaotic following yesterday’s heavy rainfall when a month’s worth of rain fell in just a day.
