SUPERFAN John Trundley helped Hartlepool United reach a milestone yesterday when he snapped up the 3,000th season ticket for Victoria Park.
John, 56, has been going to The Vic for 47 years after being taken to his first game by his dad at the age of nine.
He has followed the club through thick and thin over the years, but is hoping for a memorable season when the new campaign kicks off in August.
Dad-of-five John, who lives in Tristram Avenue, in Hartlepool, with wife Sheila, was delighted to get the 3,000th ticket. Those 3,000 fans will pay no more than £150 for a full season of League One action at Clarence Road.
But if 4,000 tickets are sold by Friday, July 15, fans will pay just £100.
John, who works for Fastsnacks in Church Street, said: “I’ve been going for years, and I was always going to get my ticket at some point this summer.
“It’s nice to help the club get to the 3,000 mark, and hopefully other fans will continue to snap them up over the next few days to help get closer to 4,000.
“I do deliveries around the town for work, and I’ve been advertising the offer on my van to make people aware of it.
“It’s a great offer, and the club deserve the fans to get behind it.
“I’m really confident for the new season, I think Nobby Solano is a great signing and the other lads could do well.
“Mick Wadsworth did a great job last year, and I think we’ll get in the top 10 at least this time around.
“I’ve been going for years, ever since my dad took me when I was nine, but I’m really excited about the season ahead.”
John was presented with his ticket by Pools midfielder Antony Sweeney, who was at The Vic modelling the club’s new kit.
The ticket office at Victoria Park, in Clarence Road, is open from 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday, with opening hours extended in the lead up to the deadline.
The office will be open from 10am-6pm today, and next Thursday, July 14.
It will also be open on Saturday, July 9, from 9am-1pm.
Fans can also buy their tickets over the phone by calling (01429) 272584.
