A lending hand from Boro boss Mowbray

A FOOTBALL manager is lending his support to a non-league outfit in a bid to help boost their finances.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray will appear at a sporting dinner at the Swan Hotel, in Wolviston Road, Billingham, in support of Billingham Town Football Club.

The event will take place on Thursday, March 15, from 8pm and tickets are expected to prove popular, so people are being urged to snap one up as soon as possible.

At the event, the former Middlesbrough and Celtic defender will be interviewed by town media man Paul “Goffy” Gough.

Goffy organised the event and said the coup gave the club “a real buzz”.

Peter Martin, head of the Billingham Town’s supporters’ association, said: “This is a lovely touch by Tony and Middlesbrough FC and we would like to thank them most sincerely for helping their neighbours, it is a major, major boost to the club’s finances.”

Tickets for the event are £20 which includes a two-course hot support.
