A warming way to help charity

A charity shop has renewed its appeal for winter woolies after a new year shortage.

Hartlepool’s Barnardos shop are appealing for more donations of ultra-warm winter clothes because its existing stock was snapped up during the recent cold snap.

The Mail told last month how supplies which would normally have filled the shelves until March had been bought before the Christmas break – leaving nothing in the charity’s warehouse.

Shop manager Catherine Braithwaite said a trickle of new supplies had started to come in after the Mail’s first appeal for help and staff are hoping for more.

Catherine added: “Clothing is the thing. We are getting lots of donations of toys.

“ At the moment, people are emptying their old toys out but we really need things like jackets and coats. Any outdoor wear is really welcome.”

The Barnardo’s shop is based in Carlton Corner, York Road, in Hartlepool, and it also needs supplies of jumpers, hats, scarves and boots.
