FUNDING is available for innovative projects that aim to get people more active.
The money for schemes in Hartlepool is available through the Community Activities Network (CAN), which is a partnership of organisations that promote and provide sporting opportunities in the town.
The maximum award per project is £10,000 over a year.
Groups or clubs that apply for this money must be able to demonstrate that there is a need for their project and that it fills a gap in the provision of physical activity opportunities within a particular area.
It is also important that applicants are able to demonstrate that their project is sustainable once the CAN funding has ceased.
Daniel Garthwaite, Hartlepool Borough Council’s assistant recreation officer, said: “This money will be fantastic for those clubs and organisations that have great ideas, but cannot afford to take it further.
“The funding will not only help ideas become reality, but it will also provied opportunities for many people which will promote their area of sports.”
Applicants will be considered from groups and organisations outside of Hartlepool, but only if they can show that they attract people from the town whose needs cannot be met from within Hartlepool.
The next deadline for applications is at 4pm on Monday, September 10.
But for organisations unable to meet this date, there is a further round of funding which the deadline is 4pm on Monday, November 19.
