Sunderland star Adam Johnson faces a wait to see if he will join his team-mates on the plane to the USA for their pre-season trip.
There have been question marks over whether Johnson – on bail over child sex charges – will travel to the USA and Canada due to his ongoing legal problems, which could affect his ability to get a visa.
Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat refused to be drawn on whether Johnson would head across the Atlantic when asked about the £10million winger.
“I will make the final decision about the squad (for America) on Friday after the game,” he replied.
Johnson has denied three charges of sexual activity with a child and one of grooming. He will appear before Durham Crown Court again on August 3.
The US Embassy said they don’t comment on individual cases.
