A CAMPAIGN to send a little boy to America for life-changing surgery has reached a new landmark.

The fundraising total in the Ear for Alex project – to help four-year-old Alex Million get to the USA – has now topped £9,000.

Alex, from Greatham, has two ear conditions. One is called microtia, which means his external ear is under-developed.

The other is called atresia, which means he does not have an external ear canal.

The little boy now has his first hearing aid which means he can hear music much better now.

But the fundraising campaign to get Alex to America for life-changing surgery is continuing and needs to reach the target of
£30,000.

A specialist surgeon John Reinisch has developed the Medpor method of ear reconstruction for the treatment of microtia. His mum Katy is hoping Alex can go there once the campaign is complete.

Alex has lived all his life so far with a condition so rare, it affects only one in every 6,000 people.

Katy has set up a website with more details on the condition affecting her son. Visit it at www.earforalex.co.uk
