Pools boss Matthew Bates, said: “Andrew had a scan on Tuesday, the results came back and we need to see a specialist. We need to get the swelling down and then go and assess it.

“At the moment, we don’t really know how long it’s going to be. Ankle ligaments are a funny one – there’s so much that goes on in the ankle that it takes a specialist to tell you what’s really needed in terms of length of time.

“We are very hopeful that it’s not going to be an operation, it’s going to be rehab and we will get him back as soon as possible.”
