A TALENTED footballer is preparing to take on the world after receiving a dream call to represent his country.
Hartlepool man Andrew Featonby, who has learning difficulties, has been called up to the England squad to play at the Mencap World Cup, in Geneva, Switzerland, this summer.
The 34-year-old, who represents Hartlepool Breakaways, will fly out with the rest of the 15-man squad in June for the five-day tournament, which sees teams from across the globe competing in an 11-a-side mini World Cup between June 9-13.
Andrew, who plays in midfield, says he cannot wait to pull on the Three Lions shirt and represent his country.
The dad-of-three, who lives in Ashgrove Avenue and is married to Wendy, said: “It is a dream to pull on the three lions shirt and it will be a really proud moment.
“I can’t wait.”
