Appeal after attack outside pub

A MAN was rushed to hospital with head injuries after being knocked unconscious outside a pub.

The 30-year-old Peterlee man was attacked outside the Red Lion pub, in Burnhope Way, Peterlee, in the early hours of Saturday.

The attack initially left the victim in a critical condition in Sunderland Royal Hospital, though this was later said to be stable.

Police say there was a large crowd of people who may have witnessed the attack and urging them to come forward.

Detective Constable Chris Robinson, of Peterlee CID, said: “There was an altercation between three males, including the victim, outside The Red Lion around 1.30am on Saturday.

“CCTV footage doesn’t catch the whole incident but it shows a number of people make their way towards it and we would like to speak to them or anyone else with information about what happened.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Det Con Robinson on 0345 6060365 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
