POLICE investigating disorder ahead of a Premiership football match believe people they want to speak to could have links to the Hartlepool area.

Northumbria Police have appealed for information after violence broke out outside Revolution Bar at Low Row in Sunderland city centre, prior to the Sunderland v West Ham match, at around 2.15pm on Saturday, January 12.

The incident involved both Sunderland and West Ham supporters.

Chief Superintendent Kay Blyth, Sunderland Area Commander, said: “More arrests have been made in connection with the incident and the investigation continues.

“There are still 13 images in circulation of people we need to speak to. We have reason to believe some of these may have connections to the Hartlepool area.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
