A DISTRAUGHT pet owner is appealing for help in finding her lost dog.

Poppy the 16-week-old Chihuahua has not been seen since going missing from a back garden in Ashton Rise, in Peterlee, around 11.30am on Saturday.

The pup’s owner, Pearl Hutchinson, 29, was away at the T4 On The Beach festival in Weston-super-Mare, in Somerset, when the dog disappeared from her sister Vicki Hutchinson’s garden.

Pearl, who bought Poppy as a 15th birthday present for her daughter, Shannon, said the pup was with her other Chihuahua, Harry, at the time and now the other dog won’t eat because his “little friend” has gone.

“I’m absolutely distraught and so is my daughter,” said Pearl, who lives in Grange Close, Peterlee, and has put up posters around the area and posted a “missing” appeal on Facebook.

“Poppy was a proper part of the family,” added Pearl, who is also full-time mum to 10-year-old Brandon.

Poppy is a black and tan colour and anyone with information about her whereabouts can call Pearl on 07411 219133.
