READERS are kindly reminded that our annual festive appeal for under-privileged youngsters has started.
Give a Little Gift has provided hundreds of children with Christmas presents across the years.
Even recent economic woes have not prevented residents in Hartlepool and East Durham from donating scores of gifts.
The idea behind Give a Little Gift the is simple. Readers are asked to drop off unwrapped presents for youngsters less fortunate than themselves at the Mail’s Wesley Square offices.
Don’t worry about breaking the bank.
Small gifts such as cuddly toys, perfumes, shower gels and selection boxes are just as welcome as any bigger presents.
We will then distribute your collection between official causes across town.
Mail editor Joy Yates said: “We value every donation made to the appeal and were overwhelmed at the amount of presents we received in 2012 after another difficult year for many people.
“The response showed once again just how thoughtful our readers are and we hope as many people as possible will be able to support this year’s campaign.
Presents can be delivered to the Mail from Mondays to Fridays between 9am-4.30pm up until Monday, December 16.
We will then hand them over to reputable causes in time for the big day itself.
Among the groups we have dealt with in the past are Hartlepool Women’s Aid, the Hartlepool Outreach service, Hartlepool Families First and Hartlepool Borough Council’s social services department.
Organisations wanting presents this year should make their requests in writing via email to Gavin Ledwith at email@example.com.
They will be expected to collect gifts from the Mail’s offices on Wednesday, December 18.
