POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a bike was stolen from outside a leisure centre.

The black Apollo Slant bike was parked and locked up outside of the Mill House Leisure Centre, off Raby Road, Hartlepool, when it was snatched by thieves.

Officers believe the thief must have cut through the lock to free the bike before making off with it.

The black bike has green slashes across the top and lower part of the frame, a black seat, black handle bars and tyres, and white handle grips. It has a 20-inch frame and 15 gears.

Today a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “We are appealing for information after an Apollo Slant bike was stolen from outside the Mill House Leisure Centre on Thursday last week, some time between 6.15pm and 7.05pm.

“The bike was securely locked, but it is believed that the thief cut through the lock.”

Anyone who witnessed the crime, knows who is responsible or has been offered the bike for sale, should contact PC Darren Guest on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on (0800) 555111.
