ADORABLE Archie Jack Malpas was the best start to 2015 that his family could have wished for.
The newborn came into the world at 9.35am on New Year’s Day at the University Hospital of Hartlepool – 11 days before he was due.
He weighed in at a healthy 8lb 2.5oz.
Archie’s proud mum and dad Aimee Arnold, 29, and Ross Malpas, 27, are still shocked at having a New Year’s Day baby.
Aimee, of Kinbrace Road, in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool, said: “He wasn’t due until January 11 but I started to have a few pains on New Year’s Eve. I just thought they were Braxton Hick’s (practice contractions) though.
“I woke up at 4.30am with pains, and when I stood up my waters went.”
Full-time mum Aimee and job-seeker Ross, who are also parents to two-year-old Jake Malpas, rushed to hospital.
And after a complication-free labour, little Archie was born, much to their delight.
Aimee added: “Everything went really well, it was very quick.
“We got to the hospital about 8am and then the next hour or so went really fast.
“I’m just really tired now.”
She added: “I was just totally shocked and we’re still getting our heads around it now.
“Archie is the double of his big brother when he was a baby, the absolute pop.”
