Last year’s 5k event saw 280 people taking part and more than 500 will hopefully join in this year.

Runners are blasted with multi-coloured powdered paint as they make their way along the picturesque sea-front route. It starts at the old Coach Park at Seaton Carew at 11am on August 20.

Local DJ Kevin King will entertain runners from 10am. Dancers from Amy Richardson’s Dance Studio will perform a warm up with the runners, before they all join together to throw the contents of their paint packets into air to pour down on the crowd.

There will be four paint stations on the route. Runners will be showered in more brightly coloured paint powder.

Hospice community fundraiser Janice Forbes praised the “fantastic support” from local firms Readhead Associates, Fire97, Focus Cladding, Yorkshire Bank and Tangent, and Northumbrian Water for supplying bottled water.

Registration - which includes a white-t-shirt, paint powder and refreshments - is £12.50 for adults, £10 for children and £35 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
