BABY Amelia Sarah Green made a 130-mile journey to Hartlepool as five generations of a family were united.
The cute four-week-old visited the town to meet her great-great-grandmother Sally Young, 93, after becoming the fifth generation of the clan.
Amelia Sarah’s great-grandparents Chris Young, 66, and his wife Ann, 67, both hail from Hartlepool but left the town after being made redundant from the GEC telecommunications factory 30 years ago.
Former Brierton student Chris and Ann, who attended St Aidan’s when it was also a comprehensive school, are now settled in Thornton-Cleveleys, near Blackpool, where they travelled from so tiny Amelia Sarah could meet Sally for the first time.
The direct line of descendants is Sally, a former Reeds Corrugated Cases factory worker, then her son Chris, who ran a newsagents with Ann when they first arrived in Thornton-Cleveleys, then his daughter Annmarie Wylie, 40, who was 10 when she left Hartlepool, then Amelia Sarah’s mum 20-year-old nursery nurse Megan Hewitt and then Amelia.
They were all there at the Laurel Gardens retirement complex, off Marlowe Road, when Sally met Amelia Sarah for the first time.
Sally, who was Christened Sarah – Amelia’s middle name – said: “She’s lovely, it’s absolutely marvellous to meet her.
“I’m enjoying being a great-gran. I suppose it’s quite rare now to get five generations in a family.”
Sally, whose late husband Davey passed away in 1985 aged 63, is also mum to David Young, 72, who lives in Seaton Carew and is married to Mavis.
Chris also has a son called Christopher junior, 44, and Annmarie is also mum to Matthew Hewitt, 23, and 12-year-old Luke Wylie.
Amelia Sarah was born on September 9 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital weighing 7lb 3oz after an eight-hour labour.
Megan said: “I feel really lucky to be part of a five-generation family and it feels really special to be able to introduce her to my great-gran.”
Annmarie said: “We will come back and visit as often as we can.”
Also making the journey from Blackpool was Amelia Sarah’s dad Karl Green, a 25-year-old fibre glass manufacturer.
