A theatre has opened its doors once more after being part of a multi-million pound revamp.

The theatre at Billingham Forum is set to kick off a new season of top-class productions which will see famous names coming to the Tees Valley.

Roy Chubby Brown, Joe Longthorne, sports commentator Peter Alliss, Derek Acorah and Freddie Starr are just some of the names on the way.

A brand new season starts on Wednesday, August 31 with Cirque Du Ciel and their performance called Shanghai.

The two-hour show combines acrobatics, modern dance, original music and Chinese martial arts. The show runs until Saturday, September 3 and tickets start from £16.

Other forthcoming productions include a tribute to Eva Cassidy from Tuesday, September 8 to Saturday, September 10. The show called Over The Rainbow, the Life Story of Eva Cassidy has tickets from £14.50.

Then CBeebies star Katy Ashworth arrives on Sunday, September 11, for two performances of her fun show for children aged two to seven with tickets at £9 for adults and £7.50 for children.

Further into the season, Roy Chubby Brown performs in his home area on Thursday, September 22 with all tickets at £20, while Joe Longthorne brings the month to a close with a performance on Friday, September 30 costing £16.50 or £15 with concessions.

October’s line-up includes a tribute to Neil Diamond, Willy Russell’s The Blood Brothers, Roary The Racing Car, and High School Mania.

Golfing commentator Peter Alliss arrives in town on Tuesday, November 1, to give anecdotes from the sports (with tickets at £20 and £18 with concessions) while spirit medium and television personality Derek Acorah is on stage two days later (all seats £20.50).

The Freddie Starr show arrives at the Forum on Monday, November 14, and each seat is £18.50 with no concessions.

The festive line-up includes rock and roll legend Joe Brown on Thursday, December 1, a production of Cinderella on Saturday, December 10, featuring actress Julia Haworth, from Coronation Street and A Christmas Carol from November 29 to December 3.
