The Master Craftsmen Diploma in Barbering is one of the highest honours awarded nationally to barbers and adds to Alison’s status of British Master Barber that she received last year.

A shocked Alison could not believe it when she was told she was receiving the award, and said she is proud to have had her work recognised by one of the country’s top hair and beauty institutions.

Alison, from Peterlee, said: “This is a huge honour and one that was completely unexpected.

“I am really proud to receive this award from such a highly regarded institution.

“I really love my job and the role it plays in the industry, I believe it is really important for people working in the barbering industry to go out and get their qualifications.

“At East Durham College we work to an extremely high standard to make sure all students who leave here after the course are prepared with all the skills and confidence to go out and work in the barbering industry.”
