The staff from Hartlepool business Property Webmasters took part in the environmental drive at the Blue Lagoon beach at Seaton Carew.

It came after the firm’s chief executive, Hartlepool man Jamie Arthur, called for staff to take time away from their roles to do something good for the local community.

A spokesman said: “Jamie Arthur, our CEO, decided that we should have an afternoon together each month where we don’t focus on deliver marketing to the property industry, but we worked on building morale in the team.
“Each month we have various activities. However a few weeks ago Jenny Watson our graphic designer asked if we could do something locally as a team to combat the amount of plastic waste.

“It was decided we would head to the blue lagoon beach and clean it up!

“The whole team who are based in our head office in Hartlepool were involved in the clean up and all felt like we made a real difference.

“We are going to carry this on each month now as we really feel like we made a difference.”

Jenny said: “The world plastic issue has filled my timeline and news more and more over the past few years. It becomes very hard to ignore, especially when innocent animals are getting tangled in our web of plastic obsession. So, doing our little bit to help felt necessary, and it’s something we will continue to do as a team, and individually.”

Another of the participants, Simon Meek, digital marketing executive, said: “Litter picking wasn’t something I thought I would enjoy at first but, in the end It felt really rewarding to go down to the beach as a team to pick up the litter, doing our part to help the local community and the environment!”
