PEOPLE can support smallholder farmers at an event as part of FairTrade Fortnight this weekend.
St George’s United Reform Church, in Park Road, Hartlepool, is hosting a Traidcraft Big Brew event on Saturday.
Town MP Iain Wright is due to attend the event which will raise money for smallholder farmers all over the world.
As well as refreshments the will be a host of FairTrade goods on sale along with cake stalls and some games.
Chris Eddowes, of the Hartlepool Global Peace and Justice Group, said: “The money we make on the day will go to support the charity arm of Traidcraft which raises funds for poverty through trade.”
The aim is to help smallholder farmers to grow more and provide enough food for their families and communities.
Almost one billion people in the world do not have enough food to eat.
Fairtrade Fortnight starts on Monday and runs until March 10.
