Biker airlifted to hospital following crash in County Durham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a biker had to be airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Durham Police are hoping that anyone with information about the accident, which happened at Blackhall Rocks, to come forward.

The incident happened on Wednesday, June 7, at 6.25pm on the A1086 Coast Road.

The driver of a blue VW Beetle, which was travelling east along the road, collided with a Kawasaki motorbike which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The rider was thrown from his bike and suffered serious injuries, including a broken back.

He was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries.
