Bin collections affected in and around street where Hartlepool murder victim was found

Mother-of-three Norma Bell, 79, who also cared for more than 50 foster children, was due to celebrate her 80th birthday next month.

Police confirmed Ms Bell had died before a fire reported at her house in Westbourne Road, Hartlepool, on Sunday morning, where she had lived for 27 years.

Due to the police investigation into her death, refuse and recycling services will not be carried out in the area until this weekend.

A statement on the council website reads: "We aim to carry out a collection on Saturday, April 9, and we would be grateful if residents could ensure their items that would normally be collected earlier in the week are at the kerbside by 7.30am.

"If you receive an assisted waste collection service we will collect your bin on Saturday from the usual location.

"Please note that during this period we will also be unable to provide street cleansing services.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this delay causes and thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter."
