TWO lucky charity organisations could have a whole new garden planted in their grounds thanks to a generous company boss.

People are being urged to nominate two worthy causes from the Hartlepool and East Durham area that deserve to each win £500 of trees, shrubs and bedding plants.

Fuchsias, all types of herbaceous plants, conifers and trees could be brightening up the area of charitable causes.

All people have to do is email or write to Plants ‘R’ Ross, in Easington Village, and say why their chosen cause deserves the green make-over.

Garden centre boss Ross Weightman said: “Someone could end up having quite a princely garden out of this. We have got a glut of plants at the moment as not as many people have been buying due to the cold weather and we are trying to clear the decks.

“We thought we would be best off giving them to charity, rather than seeing them go to waste.

“We would lay the plants out exactly where they need to be in the grounds of the worthy cause and work with the charity to decide where they want them and how many they need.”

Nominations must be made by Sunday, April 21.
