Hartlepool RNLI helped a boat back to shore after it suffered a mechanical failure.

The volunteer lifeboat crew were paged at 5.40pm on Sunday afternoon to assist a 24ft fishing boat that had suffered mechanical failure approximately 2 miles off Crimdon.

The inshore lifeboat with four crew members aboard launched at 5.55pm and was alongside the boat by 6.05pm.

The vessel, which had three people on board, was taken under tow to the Kafiga Landings at the Headland arriving there at 7.05pm.

The inshore lifeboat returned to the Ferry Road lifeboat station at 7.25pm and was refuelled and made ready for service by 7.50pm
