Boy left fighting for his life after being hit by car in Hartlepool shows signs of improvement

A BOY who was left fighting for life after being hit by a car last week is showing signs of improvement in hospital.

Nine-year-old Jak Smithson was hit by a car at the junction of Ashgrove Place and Stockton Road, Hartlepool.

He was rushed to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after the accident at 5.10pm last Wednesday.

The St Aidan’s Primary School pupil was in an induced coma although his condition is now described as stable.

He had no broken bones from the accident, but medics were concerned with a head injury.

Jak, one of six siblings, was with his brother Riley when the incident happened.
