A battling youngster is preparing to take on the biggest challenge of his life in aid of Bradley Lowery.

Little Charlie Creaser, from Low Downs Road, Hetton, suffers from cerebral palsy and struggles to walk.

But he is putting his problems to one side to take on the longest walk of his life to raise funds for fellow battler Bradley.

On Sunday, the six-year-old will take part in a one mile walk using his walking frame along Majuba Road, in Redcar, in the hope of raising about £2,000 for Bradley who is fighting cancer neuroblastoma.

Bradley’s family have been raising funds for life-saving treatment in America after they were told the five-year-old’s cancer had returned earlier this year. Earlier this month, he was invited to be mascot for Sunderland AFC’s game against Everton, with the Merseryside club later donating £200,000 to his cause.

So far Charlie has raised £1,145 on his Virgin Money Giving page for Bradley.

Mum Michelle Creaser, 33, said: “We thought that Charlie wouldn’t be able to walk at all, but now he has managed to walk the full one mile distance in training– the furthest he has ever walked before.

“We are over the moon for him and he has said he is really proud of himself!”

Later this year, Charlie will travel to Leeds to see if he will qualify for spinal operation called selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) which aims to reduce his spasticity to help him walk,

Michelle added: “I have been speaking to Bradley’s mum Gemma on Facebook and she wants Bradley to meet Charlie at some point, as Charlie has only watched Bradley on TV.

“The two of them have both spent a lot of time in hospital so they understand what its like.

“Charlie loves to do stuff for charity and said he wanted to help someone because so many people have helped him by fundraising for his special bike and equipment.

“We are so proud.”
