Braving the rain and the dodgems at Crimdon and Hartlepool in 1964

We've had a memorable mix of searingly hot sun, spectacular thunder and torrential rainstorms.

And it was no different in the summer of 1964 in Hartlepool as these photographs show. Our photographer at the Northern Daily Mail headed to the Hartlepool shows and Crimdon beach to capture these images.

Do you recognise any of the people in the pictures. Or perhaps you would like to reminise on a summer break spent at Crimdon in years gone by. The five boys paddling at Crimdon were Gerald Welburn, Ronald Moss, Derek Wellburn, Colin Cooper and Ronald Luke who were all from Horden.

But who are the smiling people on the dodgem cars and were you one of the people having to take shelter against the rains.
