TRIBUTES have been paid by fire service staff for a cyclist who was killed in a tragic road smash.

Robert Graham Devlin, known as Graham, suffered fatal injuries when he was involved in a collision in Haverton Hill Road, Billingham, on Sunday afternoon.

The 55-year-old was a volunteer for the fire brigade through the Cleveland Fire Support Network and had recently served as an auxiliary firefighter.

Cleveland Fire Brigade said in a tribute: “Graham was a volunteer with the Cleveland Fire Support Network for several months and quickly became part of the family.

“He showed an enthusiasm for life and was always ready with a sarcastic comment or quip.

“Graham was also very passionate about supporting the fire brigade and recently provided cover as an auxiliary fire fighter for the Cleveland Fire Brigade.

“He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, both as a friend or as a colleague.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”

Graham, a married dad of one, from Linthorpe in Middlesbrough, was described by his daughter Katie, 20, as “the best”.
