Two Hartlepool stars have teamed up with the town’s hospice to hold a charity fundraising evening.

Britain’s Got Talent star Danny Posthill is returning to his home town along with former Hartlepool United striker Joe Allon as guests of honour at the charity event.

Hospice fundraisers are delighted to have the pair on board for the event on October 7, which will see the pair perform in front of a live audience.

Danny, a comedy impressionist who grew up in the Rift House and Fens areas of the town, entertained the nation in the final of the hit ITV show, coming seventh overall.

The former Brierton School pupil will entertain crowds with his impressions of the likes of Johnny Vegas, Paddy McGuinness and BGT hosts Ant and Dec.

He said: “The hospice is a cause close to my heart because my uncle was in here a few years ago, so to raise money for them is very nice.

“It’s not often I do a gig in my home town.

“It’s lovely to play in Hartlepool; the reception I get is brilliant and they are so, so supportive.”

Joe, a former Hartlepool United, Newcastle and Chelsea striker, was the leading scorer when Pools clinched promotion in 1990-91.

He has worked with Danny before when he performed with him at the hospice’s charity evening last year and said he can’t wait to get back together to perform.

He said: “We have worked together before and always have good fun, it’s a wonderful cause.”

Allon, who scored 86 goals in 205 starts across two spells for Pools added: “I would say that nine out of ten people have been affected by cancer in one way or another, through friends, family, people they know and the Hartlepool Hospice plays such a vital role.”

Hartlepool Hospice’s community fundraiser Janice Forbes, said the hospice is looking forward to the event and urged members of the public to buy their tickets before they sold out.

She said: “We’re really looking forward to a great night with two hugely entertaining and successful names; it’s exciting to work with people like Joe and Danny and are sure that the event will be a hit.”

She continued: “As ever, everything raised will be used to fund our patient care services.

“I’d encourage people to book early as tickets have already started to sell.”

The hospice, on Wells Avenue in Hartlepool, provides care and support for people who are affected by life limiting illness or the death of a loved one.

It offers a range of specialist palliative care and support services to individuals with complex needs and their families.

The event takes place at Seaton Carew Social Club on Station Lane on Friday October 7 and tickets are £20 which includes a pie and peas supper.

To book a ticket call the Janice at the hospice on 01429 855536.
