A Hartlepool business has shown its support for a local community group.
Mason’s Funeral Service, based in Park Road, has made a donation of £214 to Hartlepool Community Singers, a choir of 45 members who perform in many local venues in the community.
The money will help to buy new music which is needed to put on shows to generate further funding for a new organ.
Mason’s Funeral service arranger Julia Masshedar said: “Here at Mason’s Funeral Service we always try our best to support our local charities and those groups who serve our communities in many ways.
“The Hartlepool Community Singers are a wonderful choir, they have volunteered to sing at our Christmas Memorial Services for quite a few years now.
“We feel that the choir help our bereaved families to reflect at that very difficult time of year, and to remember their loved ones through music”
Linda Morley, chairperson with the group, said: “Like many choirs nationally, we are finding there is a decrease in the numbers of men who are joining groups such as ours, and as a mixed choir we now have to make some changes until we can recruit more members, especially men.
“We are so grateful for the support that Mason’s Funeral Services continues to show us, and this cheque will allow us to buy new music to keep us singing in the future.”
Mason’s Funeral Service have been arranging and conducting funerals for several years and provides a 24-hour service.
The business is part of Dignity, a British company that has funeral directors in towns and cities across the UK.
