Electronics firm enjoys export growth

AN electronics company is enjoying strong growth thanks to increased international orders.

The Peterlee-based Seaward Group is now exporting specialist test instrumentation to more than 60 countries around the world, including Japan, China and South America.

Last year, half of the company’s £13m-plus turnover came from overseas orders and this year the figure is expected to grow to around 60 per cent of an anticipated £15-£16m of total sales.

Managing director Rod Taylor said: “We’ve always had an overseas market presence and the much improved performance in the last few years reflects how we have adopted a much more strategic approach to our export business.”

Seaward manufactures specialist instrumentation for the electrical, electronics, medical and solar PV industries.

For the important USA and the growing Far East markets, Seaward has opened regional sales offices in Tampa and Malaysia.
