Engineering firm to the rescue for fire crews

AN engineering company has found success after filling a gap in a niche market.

C&A Pumps and Engineering, a water solution and drainage specialist, has come to the rescue of the region’s fire services, providing them with a specialist temperature gauge for their training units.

The company has previously worked with Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade and more recently found a solution for their counterparts in Cleveland.

Alan Roberts, managing director of C&A Pumps, said: “Because the equipment is so specialist, it was proving a little difficult for Cleveland Fire Brigade to find a company that could source and install the system.

“The brigade’s training facility is obviously a big part of what they do and the temperature of the training base must be correctly measured in high heats, to ensure maximum safety.

“Cleveland Fire Brigade approached their colleagues in Tyne and Wear to see if they had any advice, and it turned out they had used us in the past.

“It just so happens we are over the road from their headquarters in Hartlepool which meant they didn’t have far to go and within six weeks of us being contacted, the sensor had been refitted and the service was back up and running.”
