AN IT consultancy firm on the outskirts of Hartlepool has won a contract to design and build a new state-of-the-art IT systemfor one of Belgium’s largest companies.

High Tide Consulting, which is based at Wynyard Park, is carrying out the work for Alcopa whose head office is at Kontich, near Antwerp.

Alcopa employs more than 2,000 people and counts the distribution of cars, powered mobility and leisure products and office furniture among its core businesses.

Director and lead consultant Andrew Ingram founded High Tide Consulting in 2008 and initially worked exclusively for Huntsman, one of the world’s largest chemical companies.

“The work involved large-scale data centre and IT system design and builds and was done either on Huntsman’s own premises or remotely, so there was no real need for office space at that time,” said the 31-year-old entrepreneur from Hartlepool, whose IT skills were largely self-taught after a late diagnosis of dyslexia meant he failed all his GCSEs.

“However, the £350,000 Alcopa contract created an immediate need for premises from which I and other IT engineers could work from. After looking at a number of locations, we chose Wynyard Park due to the flexible terms on offer and its proximity to good transport links, including the A19 and A1.”
