Good luck to the award-winning Hartlepool firm which will represent the town in the national finals of a Hartlepool Mail-backed competition.
Sweet Niblets Confectionery, run by husband and wife team Carole and Geoffrey Earl, are through to the regional stages of the Local Business Accelerators challenge.
Carole Earl, 51, and her husband Geoffrey, 38, produce a toffee range which includes strawberries and cream, treacle, liquorice, mint and banana as well as an Autumn and winter range with Bourbon, Irish Liqueur and Whisky Toffee.
Carole opted for her own business after taking redundancy as a business advisor with Business Link in January 2011.
At first, she set up a jewellery business before deciding upon toffee-making was the way forward. Geoffrey makes the product while Carole handles all other aspects of the business.
Judging for the regional stages get under way from next month and in the meantime, the business is going from strength to strength on the trading front.
Posting on Facebook, Carole wrote how her stall at a market in the North East had attracted customers from Boston in the USA, Hong Kong, South Africa. and Vancouver in Canada.
Now the firm will be hoping to progress to the national stages of the competition.
The finalists for the regional stages are expected to be announced by the end of the summer with the regional and national winners announced in September and October.
