A SOLICITORS firm has praised clients for boosting charity by making out a will.
Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors, based in Hartlepool, has been among the most successful firms in the country in raising funds for the annual Make a Will Month cause which is held in support of Will Aid.
Last year, they raised £10,023 which was most successful campaign ever for the charity.
It put the firm as the second highest donating company in the North East and the tenth most successful in the UK. The total raised by the firm, over all the years it has backed the scheme, stands at £43,944.
Carolyn Tilly, who heads the firm’s wills and probate department, was presented with a certificate to recognise the company’s achievement. She received it from Mark Rounding, the legacy relationship manager (North) for Age UK.
Carolyn said: “Our clients’ generosity always amazes us, especially when we know many in this area remain affected by the economic crisis.
“As well as raising funds, this campaign also raises awareness of the importance of making a will, and we’re delighted that over the years so many people have been prompted to make a will with us during Make A Will Month.”
Mark said: “Tilly Bailey & Irvine Solicitors has supported Will Aid for many years, and Age UK and all the other charities are extremely grateful to everyone who is inspired by the campaign to make their will and make a very generous donation. These funds help Age UK to continue our work, enabling and supporting older people so that everyone can make the most of later life.”
Will Aid fundraises for ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Age UK, NSPCC, Save The Children, Sciaf (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund), Sightsavers and Trocaire, the overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland.
