Number looking for work in Hartlepool falls

THE number of people looking for work in Hartlepool fell by nearly 50 last month.

The latest figures show there were 2,775 people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance – paid to those officially classed as looking for employment – in the town in September, a drop of 47 on August’s figure of 2,822.

September was the eight consecutive month to see a reduction in the number of claimants across the city.

The claimant count has fallen by more than 1,300 during the last 12 months.
