DEVELOPERS have submitted plans to build a new pub and family restaurant on a derelict site next to a main road into Hartlepool.
Greene King Developments has lodged plans with Hartlepool Borough Council for a new Hungry Horse pub and restaurant to be built on the corner of Belle Vue Way and Brenda Road.
They are looking for permission to build a part single storey, part two-storey, building with car parking for 79 vehicles and landscaping.
Plans are currently out to consultation. A decision is expected before the end of August.
The overgrown land has been empty for several years but it used to house an occupational therapy centre and then a child guidance centre.
A planning document by Greene King Developments, said: “The application proposes the construction of a new building to accommodate a Hungry Horse family restaurant/public house.
“It is proposed that the building be located in the north eastern corner of the site at the junction of Brenda Road and Belle Vue Way.
“Car parking will be provided to the south of the building.”
It added that the ground floor will include the restaurant and bar area, together with the kitchen, washing up area and beer cellar/wines and spirits store with a flat for the manager and a second flat for the assistant manager on the first floor.
The site is opposite the Tees Bay Retail Park off the main road into the town centre.
