HARTLEPOOL’S search for the best in business is under way.
A call has gone out today to all companies of all sizes to put themselves in the running for the annual Hartlepool Business Awards.
Those who do could win lucrative prizes at the glittering annual awards ceremony to be held next May.
Awards co-ordinator Andrew Steel said: “We have three new categories this year and we are open for entries now. The doors are open and we want to hear from the businesses of Hartlepool.”
For the first time, this year the awards organisers want contenders to register their interest on the awards website which can be found at http://hartlepoolbusinessforum.co.uk/
And in another first, categories have been created for creative industries, young entrepreneur, and best small business.
Mr Steel added: “All businesses, no matter how large or small they are, should enter. Our message to them is there is something there for you.
“There are good prizes and this is a great event to celebrate all that is good in the town.”
The finals will once again be held at the Borough Hall.
Mr Steel added: “Last year was a great success. We are hoping to move on from last year and go from strength to strength.
“We have added a few more categories to hopefully get a few more businesses in.
“As well as the actual prize of winning, which is a great one for any company to be able to say that they are the top business in the town, there are cash prizes which go with almost every category.”
Mr Steel urged firms to first express their interest on the website. He added: “Initially, we want people to have a look on the website and indicate if they are interested in the awards.
“They can apply following that by the end of February which is the closing date, and we are expecting a big gala event next May.”
Companies can register themselves in most categories but there is one where people can nominate other people - the Business Leader section which was created for last year’s competition.
Mr Steel said: “It was really well received. People can apply themselves or other people can put forward a recommendation.”
