A BUSINESSMAN is predicting a massive year for his specialist company.

Scott Phillips’ Hartlepool firm called Premier Lake Balls has clinched a prestigious deal on the Scottish golf circuit.

Scott is already cock-a-hoop at the success of his company which he formed in 2004, but now comes more progress.

His reason to be happy is because the firm he founded has won a contract with a project called the Golf In Scotland road trip.

Premier Lake Balls, on the Newburn Bridge Industrial Estate, retrieves used golf balls which have been lost in lakes by wayward players. It then cleans, grades and sells them.

Scott already has deals to supply to every country in the European Union but now he has won an impressive deal closer to home.

Scott explained: “Golf in Scotland goes round Scotland with the finals at Kingsbarn at the end of year. This should generate good return with a online mail campaign, event advertising and sponsorship.”

Kingsbarn is part of the links golf courses north of the border and is just seven miles from St Andrews.

But even without the Scottish deal, life in the business world is looking up for Scott.

He added: “Business is doing great and the website trade has gone up 27 per cent in last 12 months. It is seeing continual growth month on month.”

Scott said his business sold more than one million golf balls last year and the firm was now in its tenth year of operation.

But Scott is looking forward as well as reflecting on his success.

He said “The next year should be fantastic for us. We continue to supply every EU country and I am expecting great things.

“We are currently looking to launch a new website in France and Finland and I am just getting the costs to do that.”

Premier Lake Balls was formed in 2004 by Scott who is a +2 handicap golfer himself.

He was the 2009 North Yorkshire\South Durham amateur champion and believes his background makes him an expert in knowing what buyers want and expect when buying golf balls.

The company was set up with the simple mission to make golf balls affordable.
