A PIONEERING sports scheme in Seaton Carew has taken on two top staff and is looking to fill a number of other vacancies.

The Sports Domes at Tees Road, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool – one of the first inflatable sports domes in the country – will house a wide range of sporting facilities from football pitches to golf simulators.

The largest of the two domes will have six five-a-side football pitches while the second is aimed at golfers of all levels and will include a putting trail, four golf simulators – based on more than 80 real international courses – a chipping green, indoor driving range and a shop.

FA-qualified football coach Andrew Russell, 29, from Ingleby Barwick, has been appointed head of football development following an impressive career running five- a-side football centres across the UK.

The five-a-side pitches can be adapted to accommodate seven, nine and 11-a-side games, and players can enjoy either social kick-a-bouts with friends, family or work colleagues, or take part in regularly organised, competitive tournaments and leagues.

In addition to the domes, the existing Mayfair Centre building at the site will be transformed into a state-of-the-art gym with membership for around 2,000 people and will include a sensory room to stimulate disabled children and an interactive room aimed specifically at youngsters.

Charlie Wilkinson, 38, from Thornaby, has been appointed manager of the gym which incorporates more than 100 different pieces of equipment, as well as the aerobic and dance studio.

Spinning, or indoor cycling, will be available in a further studio and Mr Wilkinson who is a qualified MIAS mountain bike leader and long distance cyclist, will also hold sessions of Skiptrix, a skipping class exclusive to The Sports Domes.

The centre will also offer conference and banqueting facilities and will be available to host a variety of events, while the £7m development will also see 244 houses built on the site in a phased development over the next three years.

The business has received a large number of applications for a host of jobs on offer, but a number of positions are still available across many areas of the development.

Applications should be sent, with a covering letter and CV, to HR Department, The Sports Domes, Tees Road, Hartlepool, TS25 1DE.
