AN award-winning nursery has expanded to serve another part of Hartlepool and it has meant more jobs for the town.

Footprints opened its doors at the children’s centre in Masefield Road earlier this week.

It’s the latest branch of the business which already has a base in Tees Street and which has won honours including a gold Investors In People award.

It also lifted two titles at the 2011 Hartlepool Business Awards for Best Service Sector Company and Investment in Training.

Business operations manager, Suzie Yeniceri, said: “We have a successful model at Tees Street so it made sense to expand when we saw a gap in the market in the Rift House area of town.

“Some of our experienced staff will move across to Rift House to ensure the quality of our child care remains. We plan to forge links with the local school and community and feel this is a great boost for local families.”

The new nursery means staff numbers have increased. Two extra room leaders have been taken on. Footprints now has 30 workers but Suzie confirmed more staff would definitely be recruited in the future.

Suzie’s sister, Sharon Birch, opened Footprints in Tees Street in 2006 after leaving the police service.

Sharon said: “This is an exciting expansion and one that can not only provide parents with opportunities to explore training and employment options but we are also creating jobs at Rift House and Tees Street. As a busy working mum myself I have always believed in giving our customers a service that matches their needs.

“Rift House is another path in that direction.”

Footprints (Rift House) is registered with OFSTED for 29 children aged from birth to five years old.
