The beauty of business

A MUM put herself through re-training after her children grew up – and now she’s running her own beauty business.

Rebecca Fraser, 35, decided she did not want to sit at home after raising her two boys Jack, 13, and Thomas, eight.

The mum from the Clavering area of town enrolled on beauty courses at Hartlepool College of Further Education and came out of the two-year experience with the qualifications she needed.

At first, she offered a mobile beauty service, but now she runs Bliss Beauty from a permanent base within Scorpio Hairdressers, on the Coast Road at Blackhall Rocks.

Rebecca, who is married to hydraulic technician Graham, said: “I had my children and decided to go back to college and re-train as I didn’t have a career.

“The kids went to school and I felt quite lonely and stuck indoors.

“I wanted that attraction of meeting people. I am quite a sociable person.”

Her hard work and study paid off when she first worked at Wynyard Hall and then went into business for herself.

She said: “I did some mobile work, but I did not like being at home. I wanted to be out and about and I got an offer to rent out a room at the hairdressers.”

Rebecca converted a sunbed room into a business base where she now offers beauty treatments covering nails, facials, massage, waxing and tanning.

“I have been open four weeks and I am quite busy,” she said.

“Lots of clients come in from the village and they are coming from Hartlepool and Peterlee. Things are already going pretty well.”
