People are being invited to a special event to find out how they can benefit from a £5.5million housing regeneration scheme in Hartlepool.

The Meet the Buyer event will take place at Hartlepool College of Further Education on Thursday, August 18, from 8am.

It is being organised by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Economic Development Team on behalf of PlaceFirst, a leading provider of private rental homes, and it is a chance for a wide range of sub-contractors and suppliers from the town to find out how they can get involved in the scheme to remodel and refurbish 175 empty terraced properties across six streets in the Carr Street/Hopps Street area.

PlaceFirst aims to start work on site later this month to create a range of one, two and three bedroom homes.

Managing director David Smith-Milne said: “We are delighted to be in a position to start work on this regeneration scheme and we are confident the development will offer something new and exciting to the local housing market.”

Councillor Kevin Cranney, chair of the council’s Regeneration Services Committee, added: “It is great news that work is about to begin on site and I’m delighted that PlaceFirst is committed to working closely with local tradespeople and suppliers to ensure that the benefits of this significant regeneration scheme are retained locally.”

Numbers are limited and anyone wishing to attend should email or telephone (01429) 867677. Find out more about PlaceFirst at
