A TEAM of cafe staff are excited to announce a string of gift and craft fairs selling a range of unique items.
Eugene’s, in Park Road, Hartlepool, is hosting the events in the upstairs room of its popular eaterie.
The fairs will see dozens of stalls selling one-off gifts and purchases for shoppers.
Martin Downes, owner of the cafe, said he came up with the idea to offer something different to customers instead of the usual high street goods.
And after already having held four of the events – which are held on the first Saturday of every month – Martin has arranged several more on the back of the others’ success.
He said “We’re really excited to be holding some more of these fairs.
“They’re really good and sell a range of eclectic items which are a bit different to the usual things that are sold on the high street.
“You can buy one-off handmade goods, which really are remarkable.”
Martin has already bagged a number of sellers who have attended one or more of the previous markets days, selling goods such as gluten-free food, bags, scarves, make-up, crochet baby blankets, cakes with personalised designs, and even ornamental trees made from sweets.
He would like to attract more small businesses to help give them a boost, and is also offering free stalls to anyone who is selling items to raise money for a charity or a good cause.
Firms are charged £10 per stall.
He said: “The fairs provide a really good atmosphere so if you’re sitting at home and fancy having a look at some different goods then why not have a pop along?
“We’ve still got room for charities, people trying to raise money for hospices or for a child that is in need of something.
“We won’t charge for that. We’d welcome them to come along and hope that we can help them to raise money for their causey have.”
