CHARITY champions are being urged to come forward to help raise cash for the annual Sport Relief appeal.
Hartlepool’s English Martyrs School & Sixth Form College, in Catcote Road, is once again the town’s host for the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, March 25.
The event, which takes place at the school between 9am-3pm and is in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and recreation service, gives people the chance to take part in a choice of four separate events:
l A one-mile walk, starting at 10am;
l A one-mile run, starting at 10.30am;
l A three-mile run at 11am;
l A six-mile run, beginning at 12pm.
During the day there will be opportunities to try out a host of different sports. Information will also be made available on a range of sports and leisure activities and sports clubs in the town.
Rachael Pringle, the council’s sport and physical activity officer, said: “Whether you do one, three or six miles, as a family team or with your friends or against the clock, you’ll have a fantastic time and a great feeling of achievement when you cross the finishing line.”
Mark Davies, English Martyrs’ leisure centre manager, added: “The money raised from fees goes to Sport Relief but you might also like to boost the fundraising even more by getting your friends and family to sponsor you on your run.
“It’s sure to be a wonderful atmosphere and I hope as many people as possible will come along.”
Entry to the Sport Relief Mile costs £6 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for a family of four – places must be booked in advance online at www.sportrelief.com
