A MYSTERY man has made a stunning donation to the Hartlepool Mail Callum’s Dream Appeal – by writing a cheque for £2,500.
Thanks to his generous offer, we’ve smashed past the halfway mark in our bid to raise £5,000 for brave Hartlepool youngster Callum Smith.
In fact, the appeal has now surged to a total of £3,462 raised.
That’s after just eight days of the appeal in which we hope to raise enough money to buy Callum a sensory room.
Callum has epilepsy and numerous other conditions. His parents - Hartlepool couple Zoe Neesam, 21, and Luke Smith, 23 - are his round-the-clock carers.
They have one wish for their son. They would love a sensory room filled with the light displays, sounds, projectors and fibre optics to help him smile.
The huge-hearted Mail reader, who has asked to remain anonymous, made his stunning offer after admitting: “It moved me to tears knowing what a simple smile from a son can bring to that dear young couple.
“I wish for no mention or thanks as my reward will be Callum’s happiness.”
Callum’s mum Zoe said: “I am speechless. It is absolutely amazing.
“I don’t think people realise how many kind and generous people are out there. There are no words that could thank this man enough.
“Luke and I cant stop smiling since hearing the news.”
It’s a fantastic offer and we are hoping it inspires other people to add to the total in the campaign launched in association with town charity Epilepsy Outlook.
To support the cause, you could either take donations to Epilepsy Outlook or to the Lloyds TSB branch in York Road.
Or you could get in touch with the Hartlepool Mail as well and we will publicise your fundraising event.
